2025 "doing" Ovelist check point 3 - end of year update

Well that was 2025. Where did the year go?  The gaming update for this period is here.

The balance at the end of August was:

  • 28mm - 9 figures - all Verrotwood
  • 15mm - 6 afvs - all WW2
  • 6mm - 302 figures; 5 afvs; 5 aircraft - all Iran-Iraq War
It's now:
  • 28mm - 6 figures - all Verrotwood
  • 15mm - 7 afvs - all WW2
  • 6mm - 368 figures; 44 figures 5 afvs; 5 aircraft Iran-Iraq War/1980s. 240 figures Seven Years War.  84 figures 19th Century Colonial. 
I've completed the following this year:
  • 28mm - 37 figures
  • 20mm - 39 figures
  • 15mm - 1 afv
  • 6mm - 266 figures, 43 afvs.
I bought a fair few 6mm figures in November, but overall I don't have anything that's been hanging around for too long.  I've not started any new projects as I've been adding to and improving my existing collections. 

With the exception of June, I've kept to the plan of doing at least one terrain "thing" a month and that's worked out well.  Working on terrain breaks up the figure painting. 

I’m fairly happy with what I’ve achieved in 2025.  The only thing I never really got anywhere with was the 16th Century revamp, but I'll try to get on with that in the new year.

The Shootout at El Ande County - A What a Cowboy AAR

In El Ande county The Watchmen* and the Chartwell Boys* have always been rivals.  However, since DM Faultt of the 'Boys took a shine to Carl Walker's girl Kimmie at The Corkin Cheese saloon, things have taken a turn for the worse.  At the abandoned homestead of the Hodges family, the two rival gangs decide to shoot it out. Turn One Starting positions Tony LeGrand (Shootist) is first to activate and his Action Dice are 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5.  The 1 allows him to moves which he does five inches .  At the moment though he can't utilise his other dice so his activation ends. DM Faultt the Gunslinger leader of the Chartwell Boys, is next rolling Action Dice of 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4.  He uses a 1 dice to move 4 inches and the other 1 dice to move a further two inches. This takes him into a good position hunkered down behind a wagon.  At this early stage his other dice can't be used. It's Boy Freeman's turn to activate.  The Shootist rolls an impressive 1, 5, 5, 6, 6, ...

2025 gaming Ovelist - second third update

Here's the 2025 second third update, the summary of my gaming from May to August.  The doing update for the same period can be found here .  This was the gaming Ovelist at the start of 2025 (detail  here ): This was how it looked at the end of April having played six games (detail here ): And here's the current status: I've played eight games during this period, working out at a doable two a month.  I’m very happy with that, especially as I didn't get to play at all in July.   16th Century  - I used the Sword Weirdos rules to play a game set in the Elizabethan era ( AAR here ). Verrotwood  - I picked up my Verrotwood campaign again and played the fifth and sixth games (AARs here and here ). 18th   Century  - I got the 6mm Seven Years War collection out for my biennial game using the Honours of War ruleset ( AAR here ). Space Weirdos - A Day in the Woods

Introduction In the woodland outside of Grozniansk, Senior Sergeant Orlov's Federal Special Forces team are on a mission to ascertain what has happened to Commander Sukofz.  The Commander was travelling back to the city through the woods when contact with his BTR-80 was lost.  The woods have long been the domain for the outlaw gang the Druzhina.  Are they responsible? Orlov's mission is to locate the BTR and search it for signs of Commander Sukofz.  The Druzhina have used the BTR as bait to draw in Federal forces and then attack them.  The Commander has in fact been kidnapped by the gang.  The rest of the crew were killed in the attack or directly after and their bodies removed from the site.  The stats for both forces can be found  here .
