Major Ballsup's Hobby Shed

It's been a very busy week work and otherwise, but I managed to squeeze a bit of hobby time in and finish a few bits off.   Painting/modelling   The bases came so I was able to complete the artillery crews for the Anglo-Indian forces for Anglo-Sikh Wars.  Lots of pics here .     I've based the crews and finished the bases for the Sikh artillery but just need to paint and attach the cannons.  Part of the reason they're not finished is due to not knowing what colours to paint them.  I need to stop peeing about and get on with them. Like many people with hobbies I've got stuff all over the house.  My wargames collection spills across  two rooms and into the loft.  A dedicated games room is not on the agenda so I'm always looking at ways to tidy up and make the most of space. A few years ago I picked up a couple of Bisley metal filing cabinets from eBay at a very good price.  I managed to retain one and it's been very useful in consolidating a reasonable amount of my figure collection into the one place.   Most of the figures sit very well in the cabinet.  However, the plastic 28mm WW2 figures which are on MDF bases are so light they move every time I open or close the drawer and I'm continually rearranging them.  With my new found passion for magnets the solution was obvious.  To make the job easier on my old hands I even dug out my Dremel which has barely been used in the 20 years I've had it.  Armed with a 3mm drill bit it didn't take anytime at all to drill a rec...

My retail therapy is continuing.  The first delivery this week was One Faith, One Law, One King - French Armies of the Wars of Religion 1562-1598 from Helion.   I'd expressed my interest with Helion in the title prior to publication and was very pleased when I received an email announcing it was now available and offering a £5 discount.  My order was placed straightaway on Friday and the book arrived Tuesday post free.  I'm happy with that.  I've had a glance through and this sort of information is gold dust in the English language.  The colour plates aren't great but the rest of the book is.   On the same day my order of 3x1mm neodymium magnets arrived.  I've been looking at how to base all my single SHQ WW2 20mm figures so that they're easier to use when gaming and wanted to try out something using magnets.  I won't say anymore as I'll be doing a separate post on that soon.
