July 2024 hobby update

Image
I was away for the first week of July and since being back work has been very busy.  However, I have completed another 11 28mm figures.  My goal in January was to complete 10 a month.  Having now completed 84 and sold 15 of the 128 that I started 2024 with, I'm two months or more ahead.   I managed to get my planned two games in as well, so although it was a short and busy month blogging has been the only thing that's slipped.  Hopefully I'll make up on that next month and post on the figures I've completed during June and July.     Completed I had a few things on the table at the end of June.  Of those I've finished the following: 3D printed  32mm Erroish Raiders.  I really enjoyed painting these.  Unlike the Bitter Nightshades ( last month ), I felt very comfortable doing these.  I took a lot of time on them savouring all the detail this time rather than just wishing them done. During the month I started and fi...

June 2024 hobby update

Image
That's June gone.  I've continued making steady progress, completing a further 11 28mm figures (88 done out of the 128 that I started the year with).  I've made a decent start on the 15mm Early Imperial Rome project now as well.  I also played another two games, giving two rulesets I've long wanted to play a try.  Overall I'm very satisfied with my hobby year at this halfway point.  Completed I didn't have too much on the table to finish off at the end of May: In the first week of June I finished the Victrix Armoured Late-Romans.  I completed these as a unit of noble Germanic warriors.  You can see more  here . 28mm Print Minis Bitter Nightshades. These are some 3D printed figures I picked up last year and the first real Sci-Fi figures I've ever painted.  Packed with detail, just as I thought I'd finished them I'd see something else to do so they took awhile!  I'll do a post detailing these when I get time. In progress 15mm Cromarty Forg...

Space Weirdos AAR

Image
Background On the desert planet of Ilmoral the fanatical warriors of Bigkhardon face off against the soldiers of Corne.  Who will triumph in this Space Weirdos battle? The forces The Bigkhardons led by The Bitcher. The Corne led by Norgal the Naughtiest. The full stats for both forces can be found  here .   Set up I played the Kill 'em all scenario from the rules on a 2ft x 2ft board, standard size for a 75 points game of Space Weirdos.  The board was filled with rocky outcrops and cover. Initial set up with the Bigkhardons at the top Round One  The Bigkhardons win the Initiative roll and The Bitcher himself takes the lead.  He uses 2 actions to Move and then Shoots  his heavy pistol at Dim Viesel but misses.  Dim Viesel uses one action to Aim and then Shoots at The Bitcher, but neither of Dim’s shots hit. The Bighardons spend a Command Point and Hustle Vilya Puilmiof forward so she Moves 3 sticks.   Elton Assley Moves forward 1 sti...

February 2023 hobby update

Image
A busy and successful hobby month, consequently this is quite a long update.  I got some units finished, played a couple of games and even got some terrain work done.   Completed This month I've completed the following:   A regiment of 10mm Hobgoblins for my Chaos Dwarf army.  You can see them here . A regiment of 10mm Ogre Leadbelchers for my Ogre Kingdoms army which you can see here .   I did some work on making my terrain more usable specifically for a game of Burrows & Badgers.  I made some veg beds out of old credit cards and based all my Renendra wattle fencing.  I'll try and do a post when time permits.  In progress The following are on the table as February draws to a close: A regiment of 36 10mm Gnoblars for my Ogre Kingdoms Warmaster Revolution army.  I've just got the details to do on these and they'll be finished early in March.   I cleaned up and primed my last unit of 10mm Chaos Dwarf Axemen and a un...
