Major Ballsup's Hobby Shed

January 2026 has been a curious month.  On the downside I've had what seems like a perpetual cough and cold for almost the entirety of the month.  The weather has also been dismal.  However, where this has stopped me getting out and exercising, I have done a lot of hobby stuff, swings and roundabouts and all that.  Consequently this is quite a long update.  Here's what I completed this month: 48 Baccus Franco-Prussian War Infantry finished as French Foreign Legion for my 19th Century French Armée d'Afrique collection.  I started these early in December and they had sat on the table since.  However, once I got back to them I knocked these out quite quickly.  Lovely sturdy Baccus figures, this gives me another unit and a bit to make a total of three FFL units for The Men Who Would Be Kings.   Verrotwood Cultist.  After the bloodletting of the last game ( here ) the Wisentii cult needed a new cultist, so I bashed one together using Northsta...

Introduction For the first game of 2026 it was time to dust off Space Weirdos.  The Cordeaux, an all female biker gang and the Ceaux du desert, hardened raiders clash in the barren wastes of Ilmoral.   Starting positions -  Cordeux are at the top Round 1 The Ceaux du desert win the Initiative roll and their rifleman moves up.  He has line of sight on Crow and uses another action to Aim and then Shoots at her.  Being obscured by cover gives her a positive dice shift and the resulting rolls are the same so the shot misses.   Rifle takes a shot Crow decides to fire back.  She Aims and shoots.  Her shot is true and Rifle's roll on the Under Fire Table is 11 - he's Out of action in the first burst of action!  Seeing his comrade downed, Rocket moves up, takes Aim and Shoots at Crow.  Her luck holds as her Defence roll is far superior to the Rocket's Attack roll, and the projectile goes harmlessly over her head. And that was August.  Mercifully it wasn't too hot which made getting on with things a bit easier.  I'm still whittling away at all the bits that have been sitting around for too long.  I’m pleased to say I'm getting my hobby mojo back which has been on the wane for a lot of the summer.  It’s good timing as Autumn and Winter are the time for hobbies aren't they.      Completed  Here's the bits I finished off during August: First off I based the 20mm Battlezone Miniatures Second World War German gun crew that'd I'd painted and varnished last month.  I had thought of basing them as a team with a gun, but as I have another gun crew (in summer uniforms) and only one Pak 40 I based them individually for versatility.  It also saves buying another Pak!   These were the only miniatures I finished but I did do a bit more on the terrain front: I made a corner piece for the game of Ravenfeast that I played.  This was a quick and dirty job...
