For the first game of 2026 it was time to dust off Space Weirdos. The Cordeaux, an all female biker gang and the Ceaux du desert, hardened raiders clash in the barren wastes of Ilmoral.

Round 1
The Ceaux du desert win the Initiative roll and their rifleman moves up. He has line of sight on Crow and uses another action to Aim and then Shoots at her. Being obscured by cover gives her a positive dice shift and the resulting rolls are the same so the shot misses.

Rifle takes a shot
Crow decides to fire back. She Aims and shoots. Her shot is true and Rifle's roll on the Under Fire Table is 11 - he's Out of action in the first burst of action!
Seeing his comrade downed, Rocket moves up, takes Aim and Shoots at Crow. Her luck holds as her Defence roll is far superior to the Rocket's Attack roll, and the projectile goes harmlessly over her head.
Picking her way through the rocky terrain, Jay moves forward twice and then fires her Heavy Pistol at Rocket. Her shot misses though.

Sabre moves forward, takes Aim and Shoots at Rook. After modifiers it's a 2D8 v 2D8 roll off and Rook is hit. The Corbeaux leader is Staggered. Sabre has another action and takes another shot at Rook. The second shot also hits and she's Staggered again which means she's Out of action. The Corbeax have lost their leader in the first round.

Raven and Rook in action.
Sabre is feeling good about taking out the Corbeaux leader but in moving forward he's exposed himself to the autocannon of Magpie. Without aiming she lets rip with three shots at Sabre. The first shot misses, the second hits home forcing Sabre down and the third is a Return Fire but being Down, Sabre can't use that so he just hugs the burning desert sand.

Claws uses two actions to Move up on the flank and then Shoots his energy pistol at Jay. Her Defence is too good and the shot misses.
Raven does similar and after two moves to get her into position she fires at Claws. Her Shot hits true and with an Attack score two times the Defence roll, the +1 takes Claws' Under Fire Table roll to 10 and he falls Out of action! That’s two men lost in the first round.

Claws is bushwhacked by Raven and Jay.
The last character to Activate is Staff, the leader of the Ceaux du desert. He moves forward behind Jay and Raven and then uses his last action to throw a grenade at the two Corbeaux. His throw is poor though and both survive the attack unscathed.
In the Maintenance Phase due to Rook, their leader being taken Out of action, the Cordeaux have to check for Broken Warband. They fail the roll and will roll initiative at -1DT for the rest of the game, They'll also lose a Command Point. Both sides decide to spend a Command Point to regroup for the next turn adding +1DT to their Initiative roll.

Unsurprisingly, with the Cordeaux now rated as Broken, the Ceaux du desert win the Initiative.
Staff uses 2 actions to Move on Raven and then attack her with his powered melee weapon. Gaining a +1DT shift for moving over 1 stick distance he rolls 2D12 against her Defence of 2D8. For all that though her Defence is too good and the attack comes to nothing.
Raven intends to respond in kind. She cracks her whip at Staff, but her first attack is no more effective than his and her second ends the same way.

Raven and Staff fight it out.
Being Down Sabre's first action has to be to Stand. He then Aims at Magpie and spending a Command Point he Powers Up his Shooting attribute, giving him 2D12 to roll. She's hit and is forced to Dive for Cover. Moving 1 stick she then goes Down.

Sabre stalks the desert.
Jay takes Aim and then pumps two shots from her Heavy Pistol at Rocket. Her first aimed shot puts him Down, the next takes him to Staggered.

Jay staggers the Rocketman.
It takes Rocket three attempts to Recover from being Staggered, but that's all he can do that round and stays Down.
Magpie uses her first action to Stand. She then move forwards and uses her last action to Shoot at Sabre. The dice rolls are equal so she misses.
Crow Moves up and then using a Command Point to Power Up she fires at the downed Rocket. Her first shot misses, she then adjusts her aim and hits with the second shot and Rocket is Out of Action.
In the Maintenance Phase the Ceaux du desert pass their Broken Warband roll. They spend their last Command Point to regroup for the next turn.
Round 3

Round 3 starting positions.
The Ceaux du desert win the Initiative roll again.
Spending a Command Point to Power Up, Sabre Shoots at Magpie again. It's only on his third and final shot that he scores a hit and this puts her Down.
Moving to the sound of the shooting, Jay puts two shots at Sabre. Her second shot hits at more than double the Defence roll. Sabre has to Dive for Cover and goes Down.
Powering Up with a Command Point. Staff lunges at Raven. She uses a Command Point to Power Up her Defence which saves her from harm. She then hits back beating his Defence roll by a pip and puts him Down and Staggered.

In a ferocious combat Raven downs Staff.
Crow runs to the downed leader of the the Ceaux du desert. Pulling out her combat knife she attacks him and despatches the raider leader.

Crow swoops in to finish the job on Staff.
With only one character left on the table and that one Down and outnumbered four to one, it's the end for the the Ceaux du desert and the game ends with victory to the Cordeaux.
Summary
What better way to start the gaming year than with a game of Space Weirdos. It's always fun. As I've played a few games now, I can better appreciate the nuances of the mechanics and how deceptively simple it is. This game was the one where I felt I used the rules to their capacity more. It's a great set for narrative games where each character is important.
I was also pleased to give these figure their first run out. By and large I'm not a big sci-fi fan, but I like a bit of cyber-punk. I bought these figures on a bit of a whim a few years back and at one stage was going to sell them on. However, a game of Space Weirdos encouraged me to keep them and I painted them up in 2024. They are 3D printed 32mm Erroish Raiders and Bitter Nightshades by Print Minis. They're lovely figures to paint and I'm very pleased I kept them. Of course now I'm thinking of getting some more...

Great looking game, Andy!
