Major Ballsup's Hobby Shed

I finally got round to assembling and painting the wagons and well I bought in November. These were from Red Vector (Pendraken).  Although there wasn't any instructions included they were easy to assemble.  You'll need to be careful popping the pieces our the the frame so as not to break the longer parts but all you need is some PVA to glue them together.   I undercoated the well with cheap craft paint black and then used a mix of Citadel Dheneb Stone and Khemri Brown to paint the wooden parts.  I picked out the stones of the well with the above Citadel colours and with various Vallejo Model Colour and Army Painter earth, ochre and grey colours.  Careful painting preserves all the details scored into the MDF.  Once dry I applied a sepia wash over the stones with to age it and tone down the colours.  This gave a good muted appearance.  The final stage was to drybrush the edges of all the model with VMC Iraqui Sand.  I also used Citadel Dh...

It's been a busy couple of weeks but not on the hobby front.  We're about to have some significant work done with the replacement of our central heating and water system which has taken a lot of time to prepare for.  Additionally the good days of working from home permanently are over.  All this has scuppered my planned excursion to Essex Miniatures to stock up on 16th Century figures.  However, I have bought a few things online. First up was these bits for an Old West game.  I'd recently set up my Old West buildings and thought they looked a bit dull so got these bits to add some more interest and character.     The Warlord Games plastic farm animals are sadly underwhelming.  There's a good variety of different types of beasts but the two sprues are identical.  And the sprues have a lot of mould lines where you really don't want them such as down the animal's faces.  For all the prep work I'll have to do I wish I'd bought some meta...
