I lost my mojo at the end of May and this continued on through June.  It happens to all of us at times.  Sometimes a change of project or emphasis is all that's needed and sometimes you just grit your teeth and push on.  Sometimes a few days away from doing anything hobby related is all that's needed.  For the first half of the month I tried the first two of those options, but by mid June I had to use the third.  I had a couple of days of hobby cold turkey, with no hobby related activity at all including not even looking at any social media.   Then after a couple of particularly frustrating days in the real world, I felt the need to paint just to feel I was in control of something.  And that seems to have got me back on track.  I've kept up with limiting my phone use and looking at social media, news etc. and I'm finding that's helping.  There's so many arseholes out there, that even the good things can be spoilt.   The la...

Introduction The First Century A.D.  In Roman occupied Germania, Lowenbrau a local warlord has rallied his tribe to strike at the hated invaders.  A small Roman force under Misserablus Buggarus has been assembled to show the Gemans the folly of opposing the might of Rome. This is a 400 points per side game of Midgard, using Scenario 1: Battle.  The force lists can be found here . I really can't believe it's the penultimate update of 2024, where has the year gone?  I didn't manage to reach the heights of October, but November has been a steady hobby month with the Early Imperial Roman project entering the end of the first phase.  Completed I've completed quite a bit this month: I've continued basing the 15mm Cromarty Forge figures that I'd painted over the last few months completing: 44 Early Imperial Roman Legionaries 39 Ancient German warriors.  As well as basing these I'd not finished painting the shields , so I did all these while painting the shields for the noble warriors (see below).  The shields took ages to do but they've been worth it as they set the figures off well.  I don't want to paint anymore for a long while though. Still with the 15mm Cromarty Forge, I painted and based 36 Ancient German noble warriors that'd I'd prepared last month.  That's the last unit done with just have a few villager figures...

This has probably been my most productive month of the year.  It's definitely the longest update! Completed I've completed quite a bit this month: 15mm Cromarty Forge Ancient Germans and Imperial Romans.  I finally made a decision on how to base the figures that I'd been painting over the last few months.  I've now based and thereby finished: 16 Ancient German archers 16 Ancient German javelin men 8 Early Imperial Roman auxiliaries 8 Early Imperial Roman auxiliary archers They're all based individually to make them usable for as many rule sets as possible.  The missile armed troops are all on 15mm rounds, the rank and file on 12.5mm squares.  I've added 3x1mm magnets to all the bases and I'm working on some movement trays.   Victrix Dark Age Warriors, four from the Viking set and one from the Ancient German set which you can see more of here .  By painting only a handful of these at a time they're a joy rather than a chore.
