2023 plan part 1 - January to April UPDATE

Well we're already a third of the way through 2023.  Salute has come and gone and it's time for me to assess where I'm at hobby wise against the plan I made at the end of 2022.

New projects

  • Late-Romans/Pre-Arthurian (28mm) - 👎 Abject failure here I'm afraid, I've not touched this at all.
    • Research, research, research
    • Make a start on assembling and painting figures

Existing projects

  • Ragnarok (28mm)
    • Assemble and paint another Norse force using Victrix figures - 👍 I added another 6 figures and I have around the same number to do.  That should give enough variety when creating each force.
    • Collect appropriate character and monster figures - I haven't bought anything else for this.
  • 16th Century Western European Wars (15mm) - 👎 Another failure, I haven't looked at this either.
    • Research, research, research
    • Start painting Grumpy's Miniatures Landsknechts
    • Purchase/make specific terrain
  • Warmaster Revolution (10mm) - I've completed enough figures for around 1,000 points per army which is enough for a game.  This project is complete.
    • Continue painting Chaos Dwarf units - 👍👍👍 All units completed
    • Continue painting Ogre Kingdoms units - 👍👍👍 All units completed
  • Algerian War (20mm)
    • Repaint helicopter models - 👍 I've painted two of the three helicopters.  I'm just deciding what to do about decals and I need to do the crew, which only came at the end of April.
  • WW2 Italy 43-45 (15mm) - 👎 Nothing done here.
    • Work on bases for the MDF buildings
    • Repaint water tower building
  • Zona Alfa/Last Days Zombie apocalypse (20mm) - 👎 I did buy a few more zombies for this but no other activity.
    • Work on MDF ruined buildings
    • Make specific terrain/scenic pieces
  • Terrain (28mm)
    • Make terrain/scenic pieces that can be used for any of my 28mm/32mm collections (Celtos, Warmachine/Hordes, Burrows and Badgers and Ancients/Dark Ages) - 👍 I made some veg beds, some more woodland scatter pieces and based a load of wattle fencing.
    • I also made some more rocky  scatter terrain.
  • Finally finish off the 1/48th Sopwith Camel model - 👎 Still haven't got the pluck up to handle that rigging.

Gaming

  • Try and play a minimum of 3 games.  Possible games in mind were:
    • Fantasy using my Celtos figures - I need to play the Goria final between the Sidhe (Elves) and Fir Bolg (Undead) - 👍 I finally played this game in February.
    • WW2 Eastern Front
    • Burrows & Badgers (my warbands have been in hibernation since the summer) - 👍 I got in a great game of B&B also in February.
    • Zona Alfa
    • Seven Years War
    • Ancients using my 10mm Punic Wars collection
    • Warmachine/Hordes
I managed to hit my three games target which I'm pleased with. 👍👍👍

Summary

There we are.  Although I didn't even look at some of the projects I had planned to, overall I'm pleased with how the first third of the year has gone.

The main success was to complete all the 10mm Warmaster Revolution figures - 164 in all.  I don't want to paint anymore for awhile that's for sure.  The only figure painting I've done was to paint six 28mm Norse warriors.

I started the year with 321 unpainted figures in 10, 15 and 28mm scales.  I still have all the 15mm and the majority of the 28mm left.  I've also added 62 28mm and 57 20mm this year.  Oooops how did that happen?  Well it's stuff that I've wanted for ages and nothing's getting cheaper is it.

As well as get back into the French Wars of Decolonisation in a big way, I picked up some rules and figures for a Sci-fi/Cyberpunk project - which I've done nothing with.  At Salute I was quite restrained and only really bought for existing projects.

I'm going to change things and do a plan for only one month at a time for awhile and see how that works.  As is evidenced from how this year has gone I get distracted and things I fully intended to do get left.
