Soregade's Undead grasps the Initiative and the bad lad himself moves forward his maximum 2 SPD, which sees him splashing into the central pool. He doesn't have enough actions left to Interact and grab the chest so that's his turn over.
Using his superior elven speed, Feneric moves 3 sticks to be next to a chest, ready to claim it next turn.
The Bane Knight does similar on the other side of the garden, but as he only has a Spd of 2 he can't quite reach the chest.
Seeing the Bane Knight positioning itself to grab a chest, Ederic move twice and then fires his pistol at the undead. His shot is way off though as the Undead's Defense roll is far superior to his Might roll.
Skalock, the Undead Magic User, moves forward and then casts Magic Missile at Ederic. It's a hit at more than double the Def roll and the subsequent 8 rolled with the additional 1 means Ederic is Down and Staggered.

Dark magic downs Ederic
Sadric moves forward 2 sticks and then shoots at Soregade, hitting the Undead leader. It's a good shot and the pistol ball strikes home putting Soregade Down.

The Bane Warrior moves up 2 sticks and this just puts him base to base with Feneric. With his final action he swipes at the elf with his axe. The nimble elf throws better Defense die and avoids the attack.

Feneric avoids the Bane Warrior's attack
The final elf to move is Varnik. He moves up 2, but can't fire at the Bane Warrior for fear of hitting Feneric, so positions himself to support Sadric or Feneric in the next round.
The final action for the turn is Rartarus who moves up to support the Bane Warrior.
Round 2

Round 2 starting positions
The Elves wrest the Initiative from the Undead this turn. Ederic tries to Recover, but his first attempt fails, as does his second and it's only on his third and final attempt that he removes the Staggered token, He's still Down though and the Bane Knight moves in for the kill, but his die roll is so poor that the attacks fails.
Sadric is next and he moves forward once and then uses his next two actions to Interact and grasp the treasure chest.
Soregade is not too happy about this. Standing for his first action, he then moves to attack Sadric. Spending a Maneuvers Point he sweeps his halberd at the elf. The rolls are equal and the attack is defended against.

Skalock is next and he moves forward and then Interacts to grasp the treasure chest on the left of the table.
Varnik stands his ground and fires at Rartarus. The shot misses, doing nothing except drawing the massive Undead knight onto himself. Rartarus glides forwards using 2 actions. He attacks and hits, but Varnik gets a Counter Strike, also spending a Maneuvers Point for a Riposte. The Undead's defence is too good and it comes to naught.

The Bane Warrior presses his attack on Feneric, but the elf sidesteps it easily and then attacks back. He hits home and the undead warrior is Knocked Back.
Round 3

Round 3 starting positions
With a double 6 roll, the Undead decisively snatch the Initiative back this turn.
Skalock hefts the treasure chest he'd claimed last turn, and starts to move off with it.
Feneric takes an Interact with a treasure chest, but it turns out to be a Mimic. The creature automatically tries to Bite Feneric but luckily for him it misses.

The treasure was a Mimic all along.
The Bane Warrior reacts to the Knock Back by charging forward to gang up on Varnik. With the Charge and Gang-up bonuses he's rolling D12s. He rolls a whopping 16 against 7 and Varnik is knocked Down. He activates next and his first action is to Stand. He then attacks the Bane Warrior. Obviously still shaken, his attack is easily deflected by a sweep of the warrior's axe.
Sensing blood, Rartarus then attacks Varnik. He uses all three of his actions to make a melee attack gaining a+2 bonus. He hits and it is too much for the Elven Commander who falls Out of Action.

The Undead gang up on Varnik
The Elves now need a glimmer of hope. Sadric attacks Soregade in an attempt to secure the last remaining treasure chest. The Necromancer's defence is too strong, Sadric flicks his fencing sword like a striking snake in again, but once again the attack fails.
Soregade now returns the attacks. Using a Manoeuvre Point he swings his mighty halberd. His attack fairs no better though, the two combatants are too well matched.
The last elf to activate is Ederic. He Stands and then attacks the Bane Knight. His attacks is easily repulsed and the Bane Knight strikes back. Hitting true, Ederic is rendered Down and Staggered (again)!
As their leader is Out of action, the Elves have to take a Broken Warband test, which they pass

Feneric in deadly danger from the Bane Knight
Feneric now has the Mimic to contend with. He slashes at the vile creature and forces it to Break Away, moving 1 stick back.
Skalock moves towards the table edge carrying a treasure chest, thus securing a Victory Point for the Undead.

All mine! Skalock makes off with a treasure.
With that last action the game ends with victory to the Undead. Two of the elves including their leader were put out of action and the Undead secured a treasure chest, which the elves failed to do.
Conclusion
If you've only got a short time, then a game of Sword or Space Weirdos is just the job. I've never had a game I didn't enjoy.
It was pleasing to give some of my Warmachine Cryx figures a day out. They’ve not been used for a long while. Being metals there's a satisfying heft to them. I still think they're superb sculpts and stand up to any of today's figures.
I used some of my Black Scorpion Pirate Elves to represent The Elves of the Dreaming City. They're lovely figures and on checking they don't appear to be available anymore. Incredible sculpts, I wish they'd do some more.
The buildings and pool are from PDF’s printed on thick paper. They were available when the original version of Carnevale came out. I keep them flat and just make them up when I have a game which saves storage space.
