1ft 1pt Donnybrook French-Indian War AAR

The scenario and forces were covered in my previous post Little game with little men - 1ft, 1 pt Donnybrook French-Indian Wars .

Turn One

The deck is shuffled and the first card drawn is for the Wyandot Sachem Talks-Bull. He decides to move, throwing 2D6 due to the wooded terrain. He must be feeling clumsy as two 1s are thrown so he moves 1cm. Having moved, he can’t shoot so his turn ends.

Captain Gallagher, the Ranger officer draws next. He also elects to move throwing a 2 and a 1, he moves 2cm dragging his wilful daughter with him. He also can’t shoot so his turn ends.

Next card is the Wyandot war party. Their 2D6 movement die score better, a 5 and 6. They get to move a full 6cm. The lads are all fired up!

The Reload card is drawn – no one has fired so this doesn’t apply.

The unit of Roger’s Rangers finally draw their card. Their movement roll gets a paltry 1 and 2 so they move 2cm. They cautiously move forward.

The Turn End card is the final card to be drawn appropriately.

Turn Two

Talks-Bull’s card is drawn first again (how well did I shuffle the deck)? Being shown up by his warriors in the last round, he rolls two 6s so moves 6cm to close the gap on the Captain.

The Wyandot war party’s card is drawn next. They roll a 1 and a 6 to move 6cm again.

Ranger’s draw next. As some of the Wyandot have now broken cover, the Rangers have line of sight (LOS) and they fire at the braves.  4D10 are rolled. 10, 10, 9, 8. Top shooting Rangers!  Being partly in woods cover the Wyandot can roll to save, needing to throw a 6+ to save. They manage 1 saving roll and 3 braves fall.

Captain Gallagher's card draws next. He has LOS on Talks-Bull. He fires his musket and scores a 10 on D12 to hit. Talks-Bull isn’t in any cover so doesn't have a saving throw. He rolls a 5 on the Wound table which means that he falls unconscious. Captain Gallagher's sharp shooting has done the trick.

Turn Three

Captain Gallagher draws first. Having downed his nemesis, he decides it would be wise to move, rolling a 5 and a 6 he moves 6cm.

The Rangers draw next. They can’t fire as they did last time and the Reload marker hasn’t been drawn. They decide to move to get closer to support their captain. They roll 2 6s for a 6cm move.

The Wendats draw next.  They fire at the Rangers unit, rolling 3, 2, 4, 6 and 8. This is 2 hits. The Rangers 2 Saves score a dismal 1 and 2 so 2 Rangers are killed.

Reload card is drawn, all units can now fire.

Talks-Bull now activates but as he’s unconscious he can’t do anything.

Turn ends.

Turn Four

Captain Gallagher draws first. As he’s fired his musket he decides to keep on the move, rolling a 5 and a 6 he moves 6cm.

Reload drawn first.  Doesn’t apply as everyone is loaded.

Talks-Bull draws. He’s still unconscious.

The Rangers draw. As they suffered 50% casualties they need to Rally. They need to roll on a D10. Disaster they roll a 1 which is a Rout and are removed immediately.

The Wyandot draw. They now shoot at Captain Gallagher.  They roll 5, 5, 7, 8, 8 – 3 hits. The good Captain’s saving roll is only a 2 – he’s hit 3 times. His rolls on the Wounds table score 2 wounds. He’s now reduced to D8 ability.

Turn over card drawn.

Turn Five

Captain Gallagher draws first again. The Captain's wounds must be slowing him down as he only rolls a 1 and 2 for 2cm movement.

Talks-Bull draws – no action. The Wyandot hero is still sparked out.

The Wyandots are in pursuit of the Captain but in their haste they must stumble as they only score two 1s on their movement dice, moving a pathetic 1cm.

Turn over drawn.

Turn Six

Once again Captain Gallagher's card is drawn first. The wounded Captain's luck holds and he rolls two 6s.  In a final push for safety the 6cm takes him off the board. The valiant Captain saves his daughter and saves the day.

Victory to the Captain. Although the Rangers were routed they still exited the board with 50% of their number. And although wounded Captain Gallagher exited the board with Sarah.
