First Anglo-Sikh War - 20mm Sikh Generals

Here's the pack of 20mm Newline Designs Sikh Wars Sikh Generals that I've just finished.

Until my next Newline order arrives I don't have any more figures to paint.  And completing these brings my total to the year to 200 figures completed. 

I saved these until last so that I could spend a bit more time on them and bring out the details.  I really like the figures but I'm not too keen on the horses.  The unbarded horse is a lovely sculpt and the detailing on the barding is great, but they look a bit small to me.  

As they are character figures I tried something a bit different going for oval bases.  I think they've worked alright, Well it's all learning.

City ruins scatter terrain

2024 and 2025 will see the 80th anniversary of many of the great city battles of the Second World War, such as Warsaw, Budapest, Königsberg and Berlin to name but a few.  With this is mind I've been looking at my terrain collection.  My city terrain is centred around some marvellous 20mm MDF buildings I got from Commission Figurines at Salute back in 2014.  I built some rubble piles a few years ago, but when I got it all out of the loft it didn't look very impressive so I decided to make some more. Back to the beginning - micro armour

I started in this hobby more than 40 years ago with 1/300th Heroics & Ros and then Skytrex micro armour.  Happy days fielding  historically inaccurate battalions of  King Tigers.  Although in more recent times I've collected a thousand or more Baccus 6mm Seven Years War and 19th Century figures, I've not looked at micro armour since those early days. What's left of the old Skytrex army All of the 20th Century games I play are squad or platoon sized and infantry focused.  Much as I enjoy these, for the last few years I've had an itch to look at doing more armour games and something at a larger scope.  My main constraints have been ones of space (small table size with no dedicated gaming area and ever decreasing storage) and cost.  15mm and 20mm AFVs aren't cheap anymore.  These constraints have led me back to micro armour.   When I first looked at this a couple of years ago I ordered some samples from Heroics & Ros (H&R) and some from Butlers' Printed

Swamp scatter terrain

After reading Death Zones by Simon Pasternak I started working on an Ambush Alley scenario set in Belarus during 1943.  It soon became apparent that I needed terrain to better represent the swampy regions of the forests that cover the area. I did some YouTube browsing and saw some impressive builds.  However, I wanted something simple, that I could make from existing material.  Automatically that ruled out using resin to represent water.  As an alternative I did think of using a clear plastic to add some gloss but wasn't that convinced with how it would look.   The solution came when searching through my archived stash and  I found some old gloss Humbrol acrylics.  I bought these in the late 1980s to paint a leather jacket and incredibly they're still viable.  I opened them all up and mixed a gloopy dark green colour in situ on the plastic card I was going to use.  After leaving to dry I was pleased with how glossy it was and how well it reflected light.  For smallish pieces of
